The captured EP dust is pneumatically transported to an intermediate storage silo for potential reintroduction into the batch. When the EP dust meets quality requirements, it can be recycled, thus eliminating the need to dispose as solid waste. Third stage - NOx reduction. In the final gas cleaning stage, furnace exhaust gas NOx emissions are reduced in the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) unit. Aqua Ammonia is injected upstream of the SCR and NOx is reduced as it reacts with the aqua ammonia on the surface area of the catalyst bed.

Some special demands are put on the cover sheet glass which relate to performance and lifetime. These requirements are met by special adjustments in the glass composition, starting with the base composition which does not differ much from automobile or architectural flat glass compositions. The adjustments are comparatively small, but nevertheless they have a significant impact on the melting and refining conditions. These changes in conditions have to be compensated by adjustments to the conventional melting technology.
